Description

Bridge House is a house dating from the early 18th century, situated on the west side of the causeway section of Town Bridge, and is the only building on the bridge itself. The ground floor is painted brick, while the first floor is rendered to the front and weatherboarded to the left gable end. The roof is covered with plain tiles, featuring a red and grey brick ridge stack towards the centre, along with two flat-roofed dormers containing paned lights. The house has two storeys, an attic, and a basement, and the land slopes away to the rear. Eaves are boxed, and the roof is half-hipped.

The front elevation has a regular two-window arrangement of four-pane sash windows. A sixteen-pane light with shutters is located at the left end of the ground floor, and a small multipane shop window is to the right. A ribbed door is positioned to the right of centre, to the left end of the shop window, and is accompanied by a small nine-pane light. A continuous leaded pentice covers the ground-floor windows and the door.

A short gabled rear return wing is located to the left, constructed from similar materials with a lower ridge and gable end stack. A low parallel rear range extends from the main range, featuring tarred weatherboarding and a gabled plain tile roof. A single-storey weatherboarded section is situated to the right, with a gabled plain tile roof, boarded doors to the right, and painted garage doors. The interior of the property has not been inspected.
