Description
The Little Hermitage is an early 19th-century house made of stuccoed brick, standing two stories tall. It represents the central block of a larger house, as the side wings have been demolished. The building features a low-pitched slated roof with deeply overhanging eaves. A two-story portico spans the entire front, supported by Doric columns and topped with a simple entablature. The house has sash windows, with those on the ground floor reaching down to floor level and retaining their glazing bars. The sides and rear of the house are quite plain, with an irregularly shaped addition to the west. Inside, there is a staircase with shaped balusters and a wreathed mahogany handrail, along with decorative door casings and original marble chimney pieces.
