The Church of St John in Higham Upshire was built in 1862, designed by architect E W Stephens from London. It is constructed from rag and Bath stone and features a slate roof. The church includes a chancel, nave, and north and south aisles. There is a south porch located under the tower, which has a stone spire. The architectural style of the church is early English.
