Description
The Old Granary is a building, likely dating from the early 19th century, and altered in the 20th century. It is now used as a post office, stores, and a house and is situated at an angle to Brookland High Street. The upper part of the building is tile-hung, while the ground floor of the right-hand side elevation is red brick. The roof has waved bargeboards and a pendant, and two small red brick stacks are located towards the rear on the right slope. The street-facing elevation has a 20th-century two-storey rectangular bay window built on a splayed base, extending to the upper storeys. A 20th-century shop front is present at ground floor level, featuring rendered pilasters and a recessed entrance decorated with plain glazed tiles, containing a half-glazed door to the left. On the right side elevation, the second floor has a blocked window facing the front, and a single horizontally sliding sash window. The first floor has a blocked window and two two-light casement windows. There are four recessed openings on the ground floor. An old photograph indicates the presence of balconies on the upper floors, with a canopy above the second floor. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included on the list for its group value.
