Description
The Royal Oak Inn is an inn that features an early 19th-century front attached to a building that dates back to the 18th century or earlier. The structure is made of painted brick in Flemish bond and has a plain tile roof. It stands two storeys high with an attic on a plinth, except for an added bay on the right end. The building has a moulded wooden eaves cornice and a half-hipped roof, along with three chimney stacks at the rear. There are four hipped dormers, which are likely mostly from the 20th century. The windows are arranged irregularly and include four tripartite sash windows. The ground floor features a central three-light window flanked by Doric pilasters and topped with a plain hood, which was formerly a doorway. There are also three plate-glass windows with segmental heads. A half-glazed door is aligned with the stack towards the left end, and another door is located towards the right end. At the rear, there is a large lean-to structure from the late 19th or early 20th century, which has a slate roof and a tall chimney stack. The interior has not been inspected.
