Description
West Lawn is a house located on Lydd Road, with a date of 1715 roughly scratched on one of its bricks. The building has two storeys and an attic, constructed from red brick with alternating grey headers. It features a tiled roof and a moulded wooden eaves cornice. The original section of the house includes five windows and two dormers, both retaining their glazing bars. The entrance has a doorcase with an open pediment, pilasters adorned with rosettes on the capitals, a semi-circular fanlight, and a door made up of six moulded panels.
At the northeast end of the front, facing Lion Road, there is a slightly projecting L-wing added in the early 19th century, which has four windows and one hipped dormer, faced with brown brick. At the southwest end, there is a projecting window bay of brown brick with horizontally-sliding sash windows on the ground floor. West Lawn, along with Nos 1 and 3 High Street, forms a group.
