Description
Cheriton Lodge is an 18th-century building located on the southwest side of the west side. It is two storeys tall, featuring a painted brick front elevation, while the other sides are weatherboarded. The roof is half-hipped and covered with tiles, and it has a wooden bracket eaves cornice. The building has three windows, which include original sash windows with moulded surrounds on the first floor and restored modern sashes on the ground floor. The entrance features a doorcase with pilasters, its own pediment, a semi-circular fanlight, and a door with six fielded panels. There is a 19th-century extension at the northwest end, which has a brick ground floor and a weatherboarded loft above, topped with a gable that contains a fixed window. Cheriton Lodge, along with Nos 3 to 5, Southlands Hospital (Nos 1 to 4), and The Limes (Nos 1 and 2), forms a group.
