Description

Slodden Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse with early 20th century additions on the left and right sides. It is constructed of painted brick and features a plain tile roof. The building has a lobby entry plan with two rooms and a stack bay, along with a single-bay addition that matches the original style and materials. The farmhouse is two storeys high with an attic, set on a stone plinth, and has a hipped roof. There is a rear stack to the left and a ridge stack towards the right, which is central to the original structure. The roof features three hipped dormers, and the windows have irregular placements, including one three-light casement on the left. The original part of the house has two 16-pane glazing bar sashes in open boxes and a small central four-pane sash. French doors lead into a canted bay beneath the central stack of the original building. A datestone marked "WM" is located between the two right-hand first-floor windows. To the right, there is a two-storey recessed addition from 1744, and a datestone from a cottage that once adjoined the house, dated 1650, has been reused in the left gable end. Inside, the farmhouse features exposed beams and joists, an inglenook fireplace with a jack, stairs positioned between the stack and the door, and boarded and panelled rooms, one of which includes a corner cupboard.
