Description
The Ship Inn is an inn dating from the early 18th century, with later alterations. It features a painted brick exterior and a plain tile roof, with the left gable end being tile-hung. The main range has additions at either end that are in the same style, along with a later parallel rear range to the left. The building is two stories high with attics and has a brick plinth that is much higher at the earlier central section. There is a moulded wood eaves cornice and a hipped roof, with stacks located at both the left and right sides. The front has four hipped dormers and a central skylight. The façade has a regular arrangement of five windows, which consist of 6-pane glazing bar sashes set in open boxes. The central three windows belong to the main range, with one window beyond the straight-joint at each end. The ground floor windows are topped with segmental relieving arches. There is a central 20th-century glazed door that is sheltered by a 20th-century glazed porch. The interior has not been inspected.
