Description
Chequer Lodge is a house dating from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick and has a plain tiled roof. The building is two storeys tall with an attic, set on a plinth, and features a moulded wooden eaves cornice beneath a hipped roof. There are two hipped dormers and chimney stacks on both the left and right sides. The front has a regular arrangement of windows, with three sash windows on the first floor and two ground floor windows that have cambered heads. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed door topped by a moulded cornice and a leaded hood supported by brackets. On the left side of the building, there is channelled render, one glazing bar sash window on each floor, and a six-light shop window to the right, indicating that the house was once used as a bakery.
