Description

This is a 17th-century wall located about 30 metres north of The Vine Farmhouse in Northbourne. The wall is constructed of red brick in English bond on a flint base, with 19th-century brick upper courses. It stands approximately 7 feet high and extends from the eastern end for about 16 metres to a double gateway with capped gate piers. From there, it continues about 14 metres further west to a pedestrian gateway featuring an arched head that contains a fine 17th-century door with 15 panels. The wall has a 32-metre section to the west, where the height is raised three times along its length.
