Description
The Old Blue Pigeons is a house that was formerly a public house, built between 1830 and 1930. It features a date plaque from 1723 with the initials G I A, which was restored in the 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with the front elevation painted. It has a tiled roof and end brick chimneystacks. The house is one storey with attics and has two windows. It is a two-bay end chimneystack house with 20th-century flat-topped dormers. The windows are sixteen-pane sashes, with the right-hand window set in an earlier, wider, cambered arch that has two projecting courses of brickwork above it. The central doorcase features a 20th-century hood and a half-glazed door. There is a plinth and lean-to extensions on the side. Inside, the building has timber-framed partition walls, a spine beam, an original brick open fireplace with a wooden bressumer, a plank door with S-shaped wooden ventilation slits, and additional ledged plank doors with iron hinges.
