Description
This is a group of a chest tomb and five headstones located about 30 metres northwest of the Church of St Nicholas. The chest tomb, dedicated to John Solly, dates from the mid-18th century and is made of stone. It features a two-stepped base, a moulded plinth, and moulded oval and quatre-lobed side panels with urn-shaped corner pieces.
The five headstones include: - Stephen Solly, who died in 1747, with a scrolled head, shell, winged cherub, and winged side scrolls. - Mary Neame, who died in 1752, with a scrolled head and three winged cherubs. - Anne Neame, who died in 1757, featuring a cherub and a cartouche/garland. - Thomas Neame, who died in 1769, with garlanded sides and palms. - William Bachell, from the early 18th century, with a winged death's head.
