Description
Spencer House is a house located on Ash the Street, featuring an early 19th century front that is part of an earlier structure. It is built of yellow brick with a slate roof and stands two storeys high on a rendered plinth. The building has a moulded cornice and a rendered parapet at the roof, with stacks at both the left and right ends. The front has a regular arrangement of windows, with three glazing bar sashes on the first floor (the central one being narrower) and two on the ground floor, all having painted heads. The central door consists of six panels, with the top two being glazed, and is topped by a traceried semi-circular fanlight. The door has a moulded surround with a round arched head resting on imposts. At the rear, there is a wing made of red brick with a plain tiled roof, dating back to at least the early 18th century.
