Description

Turner House is a mid-18th century house, extended and altered in the mid-19th century. It is now used as flats and offices. The building is constructed of brown brick with a plain tiled roof. It has two storeys, a basement and an attic, and sits on a high base with a moulded wooden eaves cornice. The roof is hipped with two gabled dormers, and an offset and projecting stack is located at the right end. Originally, the fenestration was regular, consisting of two two-storey canted bays and a central glazing bar sash window on the first floor. A further two-storey canted bay has been added to the left. A central 20th-century panelled door is set within a rendered surround with a flat hood above, leading to a flight of six steps rising to a half-landing, then three returned steps to the door. Ramped wrought iron handrails are present. Basement openings are visible to the right. The building is included on the list for its group value.
