Description

The gas lamp on Dolphin Quay is a mid 19th century structure that is still in use. It features a fluted column with palm capitals and a pair of arms at the necking, all supported by a moulded base. The lamp is mounted on four curved ogee braces. The lantern has a square plan, being larger at the top than at the bottom, and is adorned with anthemion foliage at each corner of the sloping roof. It culminates in a bell-shaped vent topped with a scalloped cap and a finial. This gas lamp, along with Nos 30 to 34 (even) and Dolphins Quay House, contributes to the group value of the area.
