Description
This lychgate, located about 25 metres west of the Church of St Peter and St Paul, was built around 1888 by James Brooks. It features a timber frame set on a base wall made of brick and flint, topped with a plain tiled roof. The structure has a canted plan, with two bays on the inner facade and three on the outer. Notable elements include shaped barge boards, moulded tie beams that are inscribed at the gable ends, and a crown post roof. The lychgate also has turned baluster gates. The quality of construction, the fine moulding, and the overall design are considered to be of a higher standard than typical 19th-century lychgates.
