Description
Upton House is a house from the early 19th century, featuring a front that is newer than its older rear wings. The building is faced with Roman cement and has a slate roof, while the rear wings are made of red brick and tiled. It stands two storeys high on a plinth and has a cornice parapet topped with a central three-bay pediment and a hipped roof, with chimney stacks located at the rear left and right. The front has a regular arrangement of five glazing bar sash windows on the first floor and four on the ground floor, along with a central door that has a raised moulded panel and a semi-circular traceried fanlight set in a curved recessed surround, which is sheltered by a fluted Doric porch. To the left, there is an elliptical full-height bowed return. Inside, the house features simple moulded cornices and ceiling roses, as well as a geometric staircase with turned balusters and an open, moulded string.
