Description
No. 69 High Street is a house and shop that dates back to around 1600 and was refronted in 1717. It has a timber frame and is faced with red brick, topped with a plain tiled roof. The building is two storeys high with an attic, featuring a moulded wooden eaves cornice. There is one gabled dormer and chimney stacks on the left and at the end right, along with the top section of a now overbuilt shaped gable.
On the first floor, there are two three-light leaded wooden casements and a central two-light leaded wooden casement. The ground floor has a tripartite glazing bar sash window on the left and a plate glass oriel window with a dentil cornice on the right. The central entrance door consists of six panels and is framed by a pilaster surround with a moulded cornice hood above. A date stone is positioned to the centre right on the first floor, indicating the year 1717.
Inside, the building features inglenooks, chamfered joists, and a staggered purlin roof.
