Description

The Tilmanstone War Memorial is made of Portland stone and features a Latin cross on top of a tapering shaft, which has a metal Sword of Sacrifice. The shaft stands on an octagonal plinth that rests on a single-step base.

On the front face of the plinth, there is an inscription in black painted lettering that reads: "IN GRATEFUL/ REMEMBRANCE/ OF THE MEN/ OF TILMANSTONE/ WHO GAVE/ THEIR LIVES FOR/ THEIR COUNTRY/ 1914 – 1918." The names of those who died in the First World War are listed on the other faces of the plinth beside the front.

Around the base of the plinth, the inscription states: "THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE."

Additionally, the base has an inscription that reads: "1939 – 1945," followed by the name of one individual who fell during that conflict.
