Description

The K6 telephone kiosk, designed by Giles Gilbert Scott in 1935, is a notable example of industrial design. This kiosk features a standardized design made of cast iron, with a glazed door and sides beneath a domical roof. It has narrow panes on either side of the horizontal glazing. The upper segment of the structure on each side includes a relief crown above a glazed panel that displays the word "TELEPHONE." The kiosk is painted red. It is recognized for its adaptation of Neoclassical forms to serve a modern technological purpose and holds group value with the nearby Gate House and the properties at No. 1-26 Victoria Park.
