Description

Emily Cottage is a house, originally dating to around 1500, and altered in the mid-18th century. It is now divided into two dwellings. The property is timber-framed and rendered, with a plain tiled roof. The main part of the building is two storeys high with a basement, featuring a hipped roof with gablets and a stack centrally to the right. It has three glazing bar sash windows on the first floor, the one to the left being half-size, and two horizontally sliding sashes on the ground floor. There are half-glazed doors to the left and centrally to the right, each with a cornice hood and stone steps – three to the left and two to the right, supported by plain iron rails. A basement opening is situated centrally to the left. A two-storey extension is on the right, with a wooden casement window on the first floor, and a canted bay and glazed door at the right of the ground floor. The interior includes finely moulded tie beams, a reused dais beam, a mullioned window at the rear, and a clasped purlin roof.
