Description
Twistleton's Almshouses are a charity building founded in 1572 under the will of John Byer of Horsemans Place, Lowfield, but the current structure was built by John Twistleton of Horsemans Place in 1704. The building is an L-shaped block made of red brick and has one storey. It features a tiled roof with coved eaves cornice and gable ends with kneelers. There are four windows facing north and six windows facing east, all of which are casement windows. The entrances have simple wooden doorcases set in cambered architraves. Nos 6 to 22 (even) form a group.
