Description
Dartford Public Library, Dartford Museum, and The Dartford Veterans Club were built in 1916 by T E Tiffin and presented by Andrew Carnegie. The building is a single storey structure made of red brick with stone dressings. It features a hipped slate roof topped with a central octagonal cupola that has a dome. The cupola is adorned with double pilasters, round-headed windows, urns at the corners, and swag moulding at the base. The front has a central open pediment with a cartouche of Kent and swags, supported by coupled Tuscan columns, and a balustraded parapet. There is a round-headed doorcase with a decorated keystone. The building has six fixed casement windows, including two three-light windows set in projecting open pedimented surrounds with Tuscan columns. The structure also has a plinth.
