Description

No 21 on High Street is a timber-framed building that was originally part of the George Inn. It has been refaced in the 19th century and contains a cellar and gallery from the 12th century. The exterior dates from the late 18th century and features three storeys with a rendered finish. It has a moulded eaves cornice and two sash windows on the second floor, with double-hung windows on the first floor. The ground floor has a modern shop front. This building is part of a group that includes the Public Library and Museum at the Beaney Institute, as well as Nos 20, 20A, 24, and King's Bridge.
