Description
Underdown House is a fine L-shaped building located on Underdown Lane in Eddington. The oldest part of the house is the back or west wing, which dates to the 17th century, while the front was added in the 18th century. The house is two storeys high with attics, constructed of brown brick with red brick dressings. It features a hipped tiled roof with two hipped dormers, a cornice, and a parapet. The building has five windows; the original casement windows on the west side and at the west end of the south front have small square leaded panes, while the main front facing east has sash windows with intact glazing bars. The entrance has a doorcase with fluted Doric pilasters, a triglyph frieze, a pediment, a semi-circular fanlight, and a door with six fielded panels. All the items at Underdown House form a group.
