Description
The Forge Cottage is an 18th-century building located on the west side of Canterbury Road in Herne Bay. This two-storey cottage features a front made of weatherboarding and has a half-hipped tiled roof. The ground floor has two sash windows with intact glazing bars and Venetian shutters. To the right, there is a modern extension that matches the original style, which is also two storeys high. The ground floor of the extension is made of red brick, while the first floor is weatherboarded, topped with a hipped tiled roof. A casement doorcase from the 18th century, which includes recessed pilasters and a flat hood supported on brackets, has been relocated from the original part of the building to the modern wing. The door itself is a six-panel moulded door. Additionally, there is a Union fire plaque on the property.
