Description

The Old Huguenot Weaver's House is a 16th-century timber-framed building located at 23 Palace Street. It stands three storeys high with a gable front, featuring plaster infill and a finely moulded bressumer. The house has an overhang supported by joists and is adorned with two impressive grotesque brackets. The first floor showcases a five-light continuous mullion window with leaded lights, while the ground floor has a restored shop front with mullions and transoms. Inside, there is a king post and a staircase with 18th-century twisted balusters, along with arches and panelling. The house is part of a group that includes the Church of St Alphege and Nos 10 to 28.
