Description

The remains of the Church of St George the Martyr, located at 1 St George's Street, date back to the 15th century. The structure is faced with flint and features stone quoins and dressings. It has a crenellated parapet, and the windows are restored lancets. A clock is supported by a stone bracket that includes a crouching figure. A plaque on the site indicates that the playwright Christopher Marlowe was baptized here in 1564.
