Description
The Presbytery, located at 59 Burgate, is a building that was likely originally a timber-framed house, which was refronted in the 18th century. It stands three storeys tall and is constructed of painted brick. The building features a modillion cornice and has a symmetrical arrangement of windows, with three on the left, five in the center, and three on the right, all of which are sash windows with moulded wooden architraves. The ground floor includes a three-light canted bay window and an overhang adorned with a reeded frieze.
The central doorcase is notable for its cornice supported by modillions and a triglyph frieze, flanked by two Roman Doric three-quarter columns with reeded capitals. The entrance features a six fielded panelled door and is accessed by one step with a footscraper. There is also a plinth at the base of the building. To the left, there is a modern extension designed to complement the original style.
