Description
The building consists of a brick granary, stables, and an interconnecting rear wall located to the southeast of Port Farmhouse, dating from the 18th century, possibly around the same time as the barn. The granary features red brick walls, partly in Flemish bond, with later brickwork at the eaves and a roof that may have been raised. It has a plain tile hipped roof and a front wall with a battered plinth and a central doorway positioned well above ground level. There are small segmentally headed openings on each side at ground level, which may have been used for kennels. The internal partitions have been altered.
The south wall of the granary and a similar brick wall extending south from the southeast end of the granary form the north and rear walls of an outbuilding that has a 19th-century roof. This outbuilding features a 19th-century red brick front wall with three round-arched iron windows and a short 19th-century stock brick wing with a similar window at right angles at the rear.
At the south end, there is a stable wing dating from the late 18th to 19th century, with part Flemish bond brick walls and a plain tile hipped roof. The front wall has two segmentally headed doorways with boarded half doors and a small central window opening with a central loft door. The stable has a 19th-century collar roof, ground floor ceiling construction, and 19th-century floor tiles. This range appears to be depicted on the 19th-century Tithe Plan for the Parish of Chislet.
