Description

Nos. 8 and 9 Butchery Lane were refronted in the early 18th century. They are two storeys high, built of painted brick, and have a steeply pitched roof covered in old tiles, with three dormers, two of which are hipped. The windows are sashes with only vertical bars, set within moulded architraves. Later 19th-century shopfronts are present. No. 9 has panelled risers to the left. A Bull shop sign is above the left-side entrance.

Nos. 1 to 9 (consec) and Nos. 38 to 44 (consec) Burgate, together with Nos. 1 to 8A (consec) and Nos. 10 to 16 Mercery Lane form a group.
