Description
The North and South School Rooms are small, square, single-storey buildings located on either side of the Parish Church in Herne Bay. A plaque on the North School indicates that it was established as National Schools through the gift of Mrs. Ann Thwaytes in 1839. The buildings are finished in stucco and feature octagonal buttresses at the corners, which rise to pinnacles. There is a cornice and parapet that connects the two structures. The South School has two square-headed windows with dripstones above, while the North School has one window with two pointed lights. These school rooms, along with the Church of Christ and the nearby properties numbered 39 to 47 and 49 to 59, form a cohesive group.
