Description

37 Old Dover Road is a large 18th-century house, now rendered with a stucco finish. The house is three storeys high and features a paired bracket eaves cornice. Stringcourses run above the ground and first floors. Five sash windows remain in their reveals, retaining their original glazing bars. The ground and first-floor windows have architraves, now cemented in place. A doorcase, featuring pilasters and an architrave, is topped by a rectangular fanlight. The right-side elevation displays a two-storey canted bay. Inside, the staircase is notable for its scrolled tread ends and two turned balusters to each step. The building forms a group with the odd-numbered properties 17 to 39.
