Description

The Old Forge, located at 81 Old Dover Road, is a building dated 1694 that has undergone significant restoration. It features two storeys and attics. The left side of the building has a ground floor made of brick, while the first floor is timber framed and plastered, dating from the 19th century, with some original quatrefoil decoration visible in the gable. The roof is tiled and includes one dormer and one gable. The windows are mostly mullioned and transomed. The ground floor has a porch, and the doorcase is adorned with a flat wooden hood supported by two elaborately carved console brackets. There is also a fire plaque from 1777. The Old Forge is part of a group with Nos 77 to 81A.
