Description

The Hoystings is an early 18th century house that underwent a significant Gothic revival alteration in the early 19th century. Constructed of red brick, the house is two storeys high with attics, and has a roof with three dormers and crow-stepped gables. The roof features a coved wooden eaves cornice and a brick string course. The facade has five windows, alongside one blocked window space. All windows, including those in the dormers, have obtusely pointed heads and Gothic divisions added during the 19th century, with intact glazing bars. A stuccoed Gothic doorway is topped with a cornice and parapet, and the door itself is also Gothic in style. A 19th century addition extends from the garden side of the house.
