Description
The Parish Church of St Mildred, located on the north side of High Street in Tenterden, dates from the 14th to 15th centuries. Its exterior features stone rubble construction with a crenellated tower made of Bethersden marble, which is dated 1467 and adorned with four crockets. The church includes a south porch and has a five-bay nave flanked by north and south aisles. Inside, there is a 19th-century wooden barrel vaulted ceiling. The stone chancel arch contains two blocked-in lancets, and there is a 19th-century carved chancel screen, along with a piscina and sedilia. The church also houses early 17th-century monuments by Whitfield. This building is part of a group of listed buildings on the north side, from Nos 10 to 44, including the Church of St Mildred.
