Number 40 on High Street is an 18th-century building that stands two storeys high with an attic. The front is a mix of painted brick and painted mathematical tiles, while the sides and back feature weatherboarding above the ground floor. It has a tiled roof with a parapet. The building includes one window and one dormer, as well as a small bay window on the first floor that retains its glazing bars. The shop front has been modernized.
