Description

The Cottage and The Forge is an L-shaped timber-framed building that dates from the 16th century or earlier. The ground floor has been refaced with red brick, which is now painted, while the first floor is tile hung. The southernmost window bay on the west front features an oversailing first floor that extends over the ground floor below, which has a small 19th-century bay window. The building has a hipped tiled roof and an unusually-shaped 17th-century twisted brick chimney stack. It has casement windows and stands two storeys tall, with two windows facing west and two facing south. This building was formerly used as the Parish Workhouse.
