Description

The Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin is a Grade II* listed building located in Stone-cum-Ebony. The church features a chancel with north and south chapels, a nave with aisles, a south porch, and a west tower topped with a beacon turret. It was completely rebuilt after a fire in 1464. The nave has three bays and a crown post roof. There is a late Perpendicular screen in the north chapel, and the church underwent restoration by Ewan Christian in 1874. Additionally, there is a Roman altar to Mithras located under the tower.
