Description

Almshouses, dating from the 17th century or earlier and significantly altered in the 19th century. They are constructed of painted brick with a plain tiled roof. The building has one storey and an attic on a plinth, featuring a hipped roof with six raking semi-dormers and three stacks. There are four raking porches, with the two at the center being doubled, and they have boarded doors on the side elevations. The front has wooden casements and six margin light sash windows on the main wall surface. These almshouses were established by Sir Thomas Kempe and have been located here since 1562, according to Hasted.
