Description

Westdown Cottage is a house that dates from the 15th century, with elements from the 17th century and late 20th century. It features a timber frame that is clad and extended with rendered brick and tile hanging, topped by a plain tiled roof. The building has two storeys beneath a hipped roof, with a cross-hipped section and a higher hip on the right range. There is a free-standing and offset stack at the right end. The cottage has two wooden casements on each floor, along with a glazed door set in a glazed gabled porch. An outshot is present on the left side, and there are wooden casements on the right return. Inside, the right return wing consists of a two-bay framed crosswing that is part of a lost main range, featuring a dragon beam and a smoke-blackened sans-purlin roof, with a 17th-century stack attached to an inglenook.
