Description
Brisley Cottage is a house that dates back to the 16th century or earlier, with 17th-century elements and extensions made in the late 20th century. The building features a timber frame that is clad with painted brick, painted tile hanging, and weatherboarding, topped by a plain tiled roof. It stands two storeys high on a painted ragstone plinth, with an additional single storey where the roof steps up to the left. The roof is hipped and has a gablet on the lower right section, with a stack located off-centre to the left.
On the left side, there are three light wooden casements on each floor, a small mezzanine light to the right, and two light and three light wooden casements on the right. A plank and stud door is positioned centrally to the left within a 20th-century gabled porch. To the left, there is a single-storey hipped weatherboarded wing from the 20th century, along with extensive 20th-century wings at the rear.
Inside, the full frame is exposed, and the right-hand section of the main block is open to the roof, featuring a tie beam roof supported by main posts with jowls that die out, along with visible carpenter's marks.
