Description

This is a terrace of six houses, numbered 12-22 Scotton Street, built around 1800. The houses are constructed of painted brick, with exposed red brick visible on the return elevations; the first floor is tile hung. The roof is tiled, with a hipped profile, and there are four chimneys ranged at the rear. Each house has six sash windows with glazing bars on each of the two floors, with the ground floor windows having segmental heads. The front doors are varied, some being panelled, glazed, and boarded, and each has a large, monolithic stone step leading up to it. Some early 19th century iron casements are present on the rear of the properties. Original interior features have been preserved in some houses, including hinged doors, a brick kitchen floor, and fireplace surrounds.
