Description

This is a house dating to approximately 1600, with a carved stone rainwater hopper bearing the date 1605. The house is timber framed, with exposed timbering and small decorative panels on the ground floor, and brick herringbone infill on the first floor. The roof is covered in plain tiles. The building is arranged with a four-bay lobby entry plan and is two storeys high, built upon a plinth. A continuous jetty, supported by moulded bressumers resting on scrolled console brackets, runs along the facade, as does a moulded eaves bressumer also resting on scrolled consoles. The half-hipped roof features a stack cluster in the centre. Several windows are present on both floors; the left and right sides feature two-light mullioned windows, while the centre has five-light mullioned and transomed oriels supported by brackets, with mullioned side lights. This pattern is repeated on the ground floor, featuring bays instead of oriels, with a central plank-and-stud door within a moulded surround. A catslide roof extends to the rear. The building is remarkably well preserved.
