Description
The Old Gatehouse is a house that was originally a toll house, dating from the 18th century with alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. It features a painted brick exterior and plain tile roofs. The building consists of two irregular blocks, both two storeys high. The right-hand block is from the 18th century and includes a segmental bay window with gothic leaded lights and a blocked door to the left, all beneath a tiled pentice. There is also a small oriel window supported on brackets on the first floor. The left-hand block, which is from the 19th century, has a flat-roofed dormer that rises through the eaves. The windows exhibit irregular fenestrations, including 20th-century casements and a gauged head to the ground floor window. The entrance is located on the side of this block and features a 20th-century porch and door.
