Description
Abbotstone Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse constructed of brick with a slated roof. It features a late 18th-century four-bay range that was added as a parallel extension to an earlier, smaller three-bay building, which has a small wing at the rear. The garden front has two storeys and four bays. The entrance door is located in the second bay from the left and is sheltered by an early 19th-century gabled timber porch. The other bays contain three-light 19th-century windows with mullions and transoms. Above these, there are four three-light 18th-century casements. The farmhouse has a tall, steeply pitched hipped roof with chimney stacks on the rear face. The farm is situated to the left of the site of Abbotstone House, which was the home of the Duke of Bolton during the 17th and 18th centuries, and there is a brick-walled kitchen garden in front of the farmhouse.
