Description
Castle Cottage is a folly built in the early 19th century, located at the lower end of the lakes in Grange Park. The structure is made of brick cased in flint, featuring brick and stone dressings and window surrounds. It has the appearance of a two-storey square tower with battlements, which includes an octagonal stair turret attached to the front left corner and a battlemented single-storey porch on the right end. The ground slopes steeply to the rear, creating a basement on that side. The tower is buttressed at the ground floor and has a central rounded head window and a small rounded head door leading to the porch. On the first floor, there is a two-light rounded head window. At the rear, on the basement level, there is a pointed stone doorway. The building is currently in a state of decay, with only the shell remaining.
