Description
Nos 176 and 178 are two attached cottages from the 18th century located in Itchen Stoke and Ovington. They are constructed of brick and feature thatched roofs. Both cottages are two stories high and consist of two bays, with the right-hand cottage set back slightly. The left bay has a weatherboarded porch, while the next bay has a weatherboarded lean-to porch against the side of the other cottage. The left cottage has 19th-century windows, and in the center of the left cottage, there is a gabled hood porch supported by posts. All windows in the cottages are made of 20th-century steel. The roofs are hipped, with the left cottage having a higher ridge and tiled valleys where the roofs meet. There is a central ridge stack on the right cottage and a stack located behind the ridge on the left cottage.
