Description

High Views is a terrace of three houses built in the early 18th century. The walls are made of painted brickwork in Flemish bond, featuring rubbed flat arches and some alterations. The houses have a tile roof with plastered coved eaves and wrought-iron brackets. The west front elevation is regular, consisting of two storeys with seven windows, and includes mullion and transom casements.

No. 11 has an original doorway located at the third bay, which features a moulded pediment/canopy on carved brackets, enclosing a carved ornamental frieze and a plain frame with a six-panelled door (two of which are top-glazed). It is accessed by a flight of spreading stone steps with wrought-iron ornamental handrails. No. 10 has a simpler doorway at the fifth bay, with a small window above the original window, and a thin canopy, surrounded by a carved ornamental frieze and a six-panelled door. No. 9 has a doorway at the same lower level, situated between the fifth and sixth bays, featuring a pediment/canopy on carved brackets and a 20th-century glazed door.

Inside No. 11, there is a ground-floor room that is fully panelled with 18th-century pitchpine panelling, which includes an arched niche. At the rear, there is timber-framing of an earlier date. No. 9 contains an 18th-century staircase (now leading only to the first floor) in a staircase wing, along with dado panelling in the hall and in a room that has a corner cupboard.
